Welsh Festival of the Horse: 4 & 5 September 2010,  Margam Park, South Wales
This family orientated event will offer an opportunity to show-case the wide variety of equestrian activities and skills in Wales to a broader audience. There will be demonstrations, displays, stalls, amazing stunt riding and
we will also be including our canine friends who will also be showing off their skills. The last Festival in 2006 was hugely popular with the public and 2010 will offer another great opportunity to promote equestrian activities.

The organizers would be interested to hear from anyone who would like to participate, organise or sponsor an event or activity Information on all the activities will be included in a booklet and publicity initiatives, which will be widely distributed later this year,

VOSA - Driver's Hours
Please support the British Driving Society (BDS) in their approach to the Department for Transport and VOSA to ask them to reconsider their recent re-interpretation of the law regarding horsebox driver's hours and other related issues.

Recent articles in Horse and Hound magazine have highlighted the fact that VOSA originally advised the equestrian sector that the regulations on Driver's Hours would only apply to people who drove HGVs commercially for a living. However, VOSA have now advised us that people who are employed in any way whatsoever now must comply with Driver's Hours Regulations - for further information, please contact: www.horseandhound.co.uk/forums

Membership Renewal
It is now time to renew your membership of WEC and the Committee hopes very much that you will do so and encourage others with an interest in horses and equine activities in Wales to join as well. There is now a flat annual fee of £25.00 per member and all members will have voting rights.

Application can be made online by completing the Application Form on the Membership Page of this website.

It has been decided that, as well as offering membership to equine organisations, individuals should also be able to join. However they must have a valid equestrian interest and be proposed and seconded by an existing WEC member. The Committee should be grateful if you would let members of your organisation know that this is now possible.

A new benefit is the opportunity to publish your business contact details and activities on the WEC website www.welshequinecouncil.org.uk  Simply email the necessary information to me: sueks@talktalk.net

I hope that having renewed your membership you would be interested in attending the next meeting of WEC and giving the Committee your views and possible assistance with future events. Later this year the Committee will be running 3 Equine Seminars for WEC members (in North, Mid and South Wales) on topics of particular interest to horse owners. If you would like to be involved please do come to the next meeting. Contact Susan Smith for details.
